-+ Native Victorian -+
July 5th, 2012
We’ve never really been known for interior design, but our love of prints and style go further than our closets. Right now we are so inspired by extreme mixing and matching. When you think of Native American, you think of earthy, stones, geometric prints, bright colors, feathers, skulls, natural wood elements, etc…pretty masculine. Now think of the Victorian era…it flips to the polar opposite side of design in using metals, soft prints, pastels, ornate detailing, expensive, rich, feminine meets king kind of design. So, like colors on the color wheel, naturally if you bring these two complete opposites together in the same room, they have to compliment one another, right? Well, it can be a little scary at first, and it does take a little extra attention to detail when picking out your Native Victorian hodge podge in the stores…but when you find those pieces and get everything all together, it’s one of the most interesting (we think) design concepts floating around right now. We even have a slice of it in our own shop (pictured top right). Get inspired this summer and try some looks out for yourself! Might even take this Native Victorian thing back to our closets…lace/floral dress with moccasins maybe? <3
